Yes, I am a little late but I feel the need to do this review.

The Miss SVG 2024 pageant, held on October 5, 2024, at Victoria Park, was a truly spectacular event showcasing the talents, beauty, and intelligence of some of St. Vincent’s finest young women. The event, which attracted a full audience, offered moments of excitement and inspiration as each contestant brought her best to the stage.

Zada Stephens Crowned Miss SVG 2024

The highlight of the night was Zada Stephens’ victory, a stunning and well-deserved achievement. Sponsored by the Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union (KCCU), Stephens impressed the judges and the crowd with her powerful performances. Her thought-provoking talent piece, which advocated for body positivity and challenged beauty standards, stood out, earning her thunderous applause. She also dominated the interview segment, providing insightful responses to complex questions, including one on artificial intelligence, which further cemented her place as the winner.

Stephens won in multiple categories, including Best Cultural Wear, Best Talent, and Best Interview, making her a standout in a highly competitive field. Her confidence and poise captivated everyone, ensuring her path to the crown.

My Support for Athalia Gloster

During the event, I was there to show my support for contestant Athalia Gloster, as seen in the photo above. Sponsored by Flow, Athalia delivered an admirable performance that combined both her artistic and dance talents. Her presentation included an impressive painting intertwined with dance moves alongside local dance protégé Joel Bute. Unfortunately, despite her well-choreographed performance, a few technical glitches interfered with the final execution.

What began as a stunning display of creativity hit some turbulence when the cues for the smoke and fire effects never materialised, leaving the audience unsure about the intended final reveal of her artwork. Nonetheless, she did what most couldn’t - face the stage.

Although nerves may have played a part in the execution, Athalia’s creative concept and her strong collaboration with Bute were great to watch.

Despite these setbacks, Athalia’s hard work and passion did not go unnoticed. She walked away with the title of Miss Photogenic, a testament to her striking beauty and presence, both on and off the stage.

Other Outstanding Contestants

While Zada Stephens stole the show, other contestants also made significant impressions. Lisha Beache, sponsored by JCI St. Vincent, was named the first runner-up and took home the awards for Best Community Service Project and Deportment of Excellence. Meanwhile, Felicia Hector, sponsored by InstaCash, earned the second runner-up position. Alvina Pinder, sponsored by Grenadine House, claimed several awards, including Best Swimwear, Best Evening Wear, and Miss Congeniality. Her poise and charm were clear crowd favourites.

Final Thoughts

The Miss SVG 2024 pageant was a beautiful display of culture, talent, and grace. It wasn’t just about the crown but about how these young women could inspire their communities and challenge social norms. Every contestant brought something unique to the stage, and although only one could walk away as Miss SVG, each participant was a winner in her own right.

As for Athalia Gloster, I thought she might have also taken the Best Swimwear title, given her striking presentation, and stage presence. Technical difficulties may have hindered her final product in talent, but her determination and creativity shone brightly. With her artistic talents and captivating presence, there is no doubt that we will see much more of her in the future.

Stay tuned for more coverage of local events and stories that continue to inspire and captivate our nation.
