  • Gold: K. Hodgkinson (Great Britain) - 1:56.72

  • Silver: T. Duguma (Ethiopia) - 1:57.15

  • Bronze: M. Moraa (Kenya) - 1:57.42

  • 4th: S. Maloney (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) - 1:57.66


Though Shafiqua narrowly missed a medal, her fourth-place finish is a historic achievement for herself and her country. The entire nation swelled with pride, and anyone who saw me yesterday saw my national colours in part, as I wore my blue shirt with pride.

While the placement is a tangible symbol of her achievement, Shafiqua's impact goes far beyond that. She has become a beacon of hope and inspiration for young athletes everywhere, demonstrating that with hard work, dedication, and the right support, dreams can indeed come true. Update

Vincentian Handal Roban, competed this morning (7th August, 2024) in the 800-meter run at the 2024 Paris Olympics at 5:55 (GMT-4) and was shy of qualifing for the finals by 1.82 seconds. He placed 4th. Roban however will have a repêchage, "a contest in which the best-placed of those who failed to win heats compete for a place in the finals".
