A review of the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Youth Inaugural Youth Excellence Awards
On Saturday, 11th January 2025, the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Youth hosted the Inaugural Youth Excellence Awards, a prestigious event that recognised and celebrated excellence among the nation's youth. Several young individuals were awarded for their outstanding contributions in various fields, including but not limited to Security, Athletics, Regional Integration, Engineering, Worship, Digital Media, Tourism, Journalism, Culture, and Environment, and the esteemed Prime Minister’s Champion Award.
The Advisory Council, through this initiative, aims to highlight the importance of youth and provide them with opportunities to actively participate in the governmental decision-making process. Chairman Anson Latchman announced during the ceremony that there will be another award ceremony later this year, signifying the Council’s commitment to continued recognition and support for the nation’s young achievers. In a press release following the event, The PMACY accounted that it remains committed to fostering youth development and recognising the vital contributions of young people toward national progress. "With 129 nominees competing for 23 awards, the winners demonstrated remarkable leadership, impact, and inspiration to their peers and communities."

A Night of Talent and Inspiration
Despite a late start, the event was meticulously organised, ensuring a memorable experience for all in attendance. The evening featured captivating performances by Jabez Matthews, Hannah Archibald, Caywama Edwards-Cottle and her sister, Carlotta Edwards, and the renowned Silk Band, each adding an electric energy to the celebration. The National Anthem, rendered beautifully by Ulricia Gaymes, set a patriotic and unified tone for the evening.
One of the most unique highlights of the event was the mesmerising dancing statues. Normally, Joel Bute's performances steal the show, but this time it was his sister, Joy Bute, who truly left the audience in awe. Her ability to hold an intricate and challenging pose for an extended period was nothing short of extraordinary. It had many wondering how it was even humanly possible to remain so still and composed. Her performance was a testament to dedication, control, and artistry, making it one of the most memorable moments of the evening.
